ALT=Color Block Poncho

Cold temperatures equate to dressing up in stylish ponchos. They are versatile and easy to style. Depending on the fabric and color, you can throw a poncho alternative here & here on any outfit and still rock it. Here are three ways that I style my ponchos:

  1. I try to stay away from ponchos with bold colors because they do not contrast well with most colors. I try to stick to grays, blacks and browns because they are more versatile. Additionally, when I want to wear a poncho with a plaid pattern or one with tassels on the edges, I try to keep my outfit neutral. If the outfit I’m wearing is dressy and vibrant, I stick to ponchos with neutral colors. If the outfit is an all black look with minimal color, then I dress it up with one that has subtle color pops.
  2. Wear a poncho on top of  a glamorous gown or an kind of evening wear. It is easy throw on and take off. A stylish poncho that is not too casual but dressy is ideal. They are easy to take off and fold into a bag with ease. A black or gray one will compliment any kind of evening wear or gown for that matter.
  3. Wear a poncho with jeans and t-shirt. This will give you a casual sophisticated look that is not too boring. Add loafers alternative like these to your look for a chic ensemble. I wore a body suit alternative with distressed jeans alternative underneath my poncho. I kept the look neutral with a gray one. If it is not too cold outside but still want to stay warm should the temperatures drop, then these come in handy.

Ideally, you want your poncho to be flattering on you so pair it with clothing that will compliment your body.
