A fur coat is a winter statement piece no matter what color or pattern it comes in. 2018 has started off with me having to identify what I want to do with my life (literally) this new year. I still have not yet put down my goals for the year but I’m working on it. It has been extremely cold these past few days which explains why I have not been posting much. My body has been fighting something and I’m slowly recovering. Today’s post is going to highlight everything fur related. I love fur coats (faux fur) to be exact because I can’t afford real fur duh… lol!. I try to alternate my winter looks from fur vests to fur coats. A fur coat elevates a winter look from casual to girl next door instantly. This fur coat alternative here & here has been a closet staple mainly because of the black and white pattern. I elevated this look with a bright-colored scarf to give it some color and dimension. I want to invest in more fur coats for more variety to select from. Fur coats can be challenging to style so here are a few tricks on how to style them.
Casual or Dressy
Decide on whether you want to style a casual fur coat look or a dressy look. If it is a dressy look, then this is usually easy because all you have to do is throw the coat on top of your gown or attire. If it is a causal look, then this is where fur coats can be a bit tricky to style. You want to make sure that the fur coat does not over shadow the rest of the look unless you want it to be the statement piece. Try balancing it out with accents that will take away most of the shine from the coat. Just like I did with this scarf alternative, you are able to notice the fur coat however the scarf is the first thing that you’re drawn to because of the bold color. Also, wearing neutrals helps piece together a casual fur coat outfit. Blacks and browns create the perfect contrast. You can never go wrong with a cute tee or sweater underneath your fur coat. Throw on some boots alternative or stilettos and the look is finalized.
Know your style
Another way to style a fur coat is for starters having one that compliments your complexion. Unless you want to stick to neutral fur coats, try choosing those that suit your style. I like venturing out with patterns and colors however I always have to keep in mind that not every fur coat out there will suit my style. Some fur coats are styled to be oversized or bulky so if you are not comfortable in these, then don’t buy them. I accessorized this look with a quilted bag because they are timeless and chic.
