I think optimism is an understatement when I start to glance through what I want to do in 2018. I finally get to sit down and write down my goals while typing this blog post. For a minute now (ever since New Years Eve), I have been making mental notes of my 2018 goals. Since I stopped thinking of my goals as resolutions, they are now more meaningful to me.
I wrote a blog post about setting tangible goals which basically highlights what they are and how they can be achieved. This year, I have listed a few goals on my itinerary. These are not like any ordinary goals I have set before (well some of them). These are goals that are going to get me out of my comfort zone. I realized that this is the year to accomplish goals that scare me the most. Goals that I have put on the back banner and ignoring them due to fear of the unknown. Anyways I will cut to the chase and list my 2018 goals.
For starters I’m going to start a YouTube Channel. YAY! This was not on my radar at the beginning of 2017. I dismissed it when people suggested it. I think sometimes you have to give yourself time to reflect on what you want to do. When this idea was suggested numerous times by friends and family members, I used to worry about so many things. Let’s just say, I was in my head for so long. Towards the beginning of this year, I had to ask myself the tough questions. The whys, the what ifs, the hows etc. I figured that the only I would get these answers was by taking the leap of faith by JUST DOING. So now this year, I will have a YouTube Channel up. I plan on growing my channel based off on authenticity, being clear cut and honest.
My second goal for the year is traveling more. I love to travel and have done a lot of traveling in the past. I want to be more consistent being a global trotter and always finding new places to go to. Last year, traveling was very minimal as I focused my time on getting finances right after obtaining a new job. I wanted to get into the swing of things by seeing how the calendar year would look each year for me to plan my travel while working full-time. Now that I have everything down pat, I can say that I will be doing more travel this year.
Lastly, I want to spend more time with my friends and family. Sometimes life obligations come in the way and we have no control over them. This then creates distance between us and our loved ones. I can’t count how many times I have had to cancel on my girls when they asked to hang out. This year, I want to be more present and a full-time friend literally so that I don’t ruin these awesome bonds I have created. As for family, I want to travel more with my family and indulge in family adventures.
